General Dental Care
We aspire for all our customers to enjoy healthy and comfortable teeth and gums. Fortunately, because most of the problems occurring in the mouth are preventable, this objective is achievable for people.
Regular visits to your dentist or hygienist as advised is key, because this allows potential problems to be picked up early and addressed before they require more complex and expensive treatment. We will recommend the frequency of your regular check-ups based on your personal circumstances.
However, as it is not possible to prevent all problems all the time, you can be reassured that any necessary treatment will be provided in a friendly and relaxing environment.
Below are examples of common problems occuring in the mouth and possible solutions to them:
- decaying or broken teeth can be repaired with fillings or crowns
- unsaveable teeth can be extracted
- missing teeth can be replaced with dentures, bridges or dental implants
- teeth breaking down due the destructive effects of teethgrinding can be protected with nightguards
- toothache can have a variety of triggering factors and it is sometimes difficult to determine the exact cause and appropriate remedial treatment; however, the most common treatment options may include one of more of the following: changes to dietary or oral hygiene habits, fillings, root canal treatment, extraction (removal) of a tooth.
Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening is an effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. It should only be done after a thorough examination and assessment by your dentist.
Everyone is different, and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Few people have naturally brilliant white teeth, and they can become discoloured as we get older. Your teeth can also become stained from tea, coffee, red wine and smoking.
The treatment is simple and very user friendly. A mould will be taken of your teeth and the dentist will supply you with a gel to apply at home. This can be done for a few hours a day (or night) over a period of about two weeks.
The results are easy to achieve and our patients also tell us they look younger!!
If you have a discoloured tooth due to root canal treatment it can be treated as an individual to match the rest, or you may then wish to continue and lighten the lot!
Note: This treatment is available for non registered clients with our free consultation.

Hygiene Treatment
A great smile starts with healthy gums!
Did you know more adults loose teeth through gum disease than tooth decay?
Gum disease is a hidden enemy and you may not know it is present until it's too late
Regular dental health checks and hygiene visits are vital to maintain your oral health
Serious chronic health conditions have been linked to increased inflamation
Brush and floss twice a day
Red and puffy areas between the teeth will progress to more serious conditions and may cause bone loss and your teeth to become mobile.

Teeth Grinding
Tooth grinding (or 'Bruxism') and jaw clenching causes many problems, including:
Painful aching jaw joints
Painful sensitive teeth
A stiff neck
Frequent tooth aches
Frequent tooth aches
Difficulty in and/or limited opening of your mouth
Morning headaches
Migraine
If you suffer from one or more of these symptoms, a mini dental splint could be the simple solution that changes your life.

Grinding and clenching exerts 6-20 times more pressure

Repeated intense contraction muscles become painful

Forces cause pain to the surrounding muscles and joints
By reducing the intensity of your jaw clenching while you are asleep, you are minimising the source of pain, and in many cases this will happen in just a few days.
Mouth Cancer
Sadly, more than 6,500 people are diagnosed with mouth cancer in the UK every year
Almost 2,000 people lose their life to mouth cancer every year
Just over half of those diagnosed survive beyond five years of diagnosis
Over two-thirds of mouth cancers are detected at a late stage, reducing the chance of survival
Mouth cancer kills more people than cervical and testicular cancer combined
Tobacco use and drinking alcohol are the main risk factors
Four in five people don’t know the symptoms of mouth cancer
What to look out for
Ulcers that do not heal within three weeks
Red and white patches anywhere in the mouth
Unusual lumps or swellings anywhere in the mouth
You are more at risk if you:
Are over 40
Smoke
Drink heavily
Have a family history of cancer
Mouth cancer can affect any one of us and can spread quickly, so please visit your dentist regularly and ask if a mouth cancer check can be done at your check-up.
It could save your life.
Because we care about your health, we provide this check for non-registered patients as well as our regular patients.
